Every year, ABS takes a break during the summer from monthly meetings, but that doesn't mean we stop beading.
The 2022 Summer Challenge is "Alaska Wildflowers."
Use the bead technique of your choice to create an accessory (ex: purse, hair barrette, jewelry) that represents Alaska's beautiful wildflowers. The challenge is "anything goes" ~ any wildflower, any bead medium or technique, on any "wearable" accessory! To enter this challenge, submit photo(s) of completed beadwork by the deadline on Labor Day, by email to: akbeadsociety@gci.net.

Our 2019 Bead Arts Market was a success! We had 18 member-artists that filled the Anchorage Museum atrium to sell handmade beaded art. In case you missed it, here is one of our promotional videos.
For over 20 years, the Alaska Bead Society has cultivated a space for beaders in the Anchorage area. It started with a group of creatives who envisioned a bead-focused organization, and now ABS holds workshops, monthly meetings, and educational presentations on beads. Locals understand that in Alaska, we spend time fishing, camping, and enjoying our short summer - but don’t worry, we usually have a fun Summer Beading Challenge to keep you beading. The official membership year runs June 1 to May 31.
